Sculpture bones

Above are the armature for the lower stages of the Mole Hills pictured below. This will give them a height of
about 6' and 8' . There is another taller one not pictured that is also waiting for me to make it's base. The various stages won't be noticed when complete. I have to do it in stages to be able to assemble it myself. It also allows ease of transportation any where.

Here is the old form I found out doors at my mothers. It was made about 1974 and is in great shape. Light weight concrete with moss growing on it. I'm now using the same formula for new forms I call
Mole Hills out of Mountains . The title wasn't clear to me at first but it is more so now. I see this happening to the greater earth as though it were a mountain and it's being riddled with holes. Also there is a long standing tradition in Japan and I'm sure every country has its parallel and that is : "When the time is right I'm going to live in the mountains in a little shack and write poetry or maybe just look out at the view and do nothing!" Better to start soon before we eat away the mountain with less important concerns.

This is my new Mole Hills Out Of Mountains activity. I started doing these after unearthing an old form I had made; age 18 - Now 59. It was at my mothers outside and it was in perfect condition. I hauled it home to Southbury and then and there decided to go back to working in this material. It is made of a light weight concrete (and very time durable) applied to an armature. They are looking just like my sumi drawings.

This is the second one; there is a third on the way. There is more to happen with them and I'll post it as it grows. Basically there a lot of fun and I want to share it with you. I'll post the old one soon.

This was a fun gate to make. Ann B. wanted some thing relaxed that kept children from falling into her pool!
It's an example of the metal work I do.Instead of putting a lock and key on it I made it into a puzzle. There are so many things I'll get involved in by nessesity. Even making sculpture which on first thought would seem free from that is done by nessesity.
People sometimes ask me "how long did it take to make this....?" what ever it is at the time. Usually I draw a blank at the question. There is a good reason for my consternation. Creating art I loose track of time. It is the same with putting dates on art; why ruin a good thing of loosing track of time by making believe I didn't. There are all ways conditions to making anything and that is not one of them!

I say participate in the swirl of a work of art that was created in that space where time fell away.
It is contagious.

On the cutting board is a watermelon I grew from seed saved from a local farm stand . The foliage alone was worth growing. Unlike the squashes that it mingled with this plant didn't have any bugs,
 worms etc..

Here they are , a  Blue Hubbard and a little water melon. Their both
Grown from saved seed. The plan; last year this time and the success this year. One full calender circle. Very rewarding!

Traveling Companions are off to a fund raiser. So there up here to see before their gone.

Rita and I gave an end of summer party. Some of the positions of the guests and the debrie or was it brie all over the chair? Any way it was a lot of fun while the moon went it's way and we went ours.

Homan Being

I'm very seldom satisfied with any still image of my sculpture. Maybe a vidio would be more satisfying? This is a mildly edited seen in which it is now; stumped.. The change from the first image is a crome circle on it's head. Many people would see a halo. Well maybe there is something to it as when the world is round we must be aware of that roundness . A thought picture comes out of the head?  The Homan Being is a name that I've been kicking around a while. People live in homes; some of us, and our body is a home too if we so think it is. All in all more imagination at work for more thought.

bright light sculpture

It's been a while since the last post. This is the first sculpture from my new home. There was so much stuff to do before this; moving after 20 years from the same place and building a chimney at the new house for the wood stove cutting wood , etceteraaaaaaa!.
It was so much fun doing this there hasn't been the time to name it yet. There is a lot more on the way. I hope to be more active on this blog now that the sculpture has resumed
